Greeley-Evans School District 6 is committed to engaging every student in a personalized, well-rounded, and excellent education, as well as preparing them for college and career readiness. The Weld Trust awarded District 6 with a grant to fund much needed Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) counselors at four middle schools and four high schools for the 2020-2021 school year. These eight positions provide support to over 7,100 students.
The counselors continue to have a positive impact on student access to interventions and student mental health support. Due to COVID-19, the counselors have witnessed extensive challenges for their secondary students in regard to their mental health and engagement in academics. These counselors provide direct mental health services and work with students to stay on track for graduation. The increase in school counselors resulted in a decrease in discipline referrals, an increase in student & family engagement, an increase in attendance rates, and an increase in college enrollment and career exploration. These MTSS Counselors are an integral part of the student support services team, and The Weld Trust is proud to assist the school district with the funding for these positions!
