Last year, Weld RE-4 Educational Foundation received a grant from The Weld Trust to support their Robotics/STEM program at Windsor and Severance High Schools. The grant monies were used to replace some aging equipment in Windsor HS as well as purchase larger tools, equipment and kits at the newer program in Severance HS to be comparable to the existing program at Windsor HS. During the first few years of the program at Severance HS, the students placed ninth in the state at robotics competitions showing the high-quality skills they are learning through the program.
The Weld Trust grant also supported a position in Windsor RE-4 to coordinate work-based learning for the students at both high schools to connect with community partners. This position provides local businesses and students with one point of contact to streamline the process of getting students’ on-the-job experience. This will ultimately give students a competitive advantage when applying for jobs in the future.
