Colorado, being a marijuana legal state, has seen a substantial increase in access and abuse of harmful substances in recent years. To help inform the community, The Weld Trust awarded Johnny’s Ambassadors with a grant to provide educational presentations on the dangers of high-potency THC in marijuana to middle and high school students. The grant supported 11 assemblies across Weld County.
Each assembly is approximately one hour in length provided by Laura Stack, a nationally recognized speaker, who delivers a powerful message on the dangers of marijuana use in youth which can affect brain development, mental health and suicide. Stack’s son, Johnny, died by suicide at the age of 19 after he started using marijuana at the age of 14. In 2022, Stack provided 127 assemblies focused on marijuana awareness, prevention and education around the country.
